Students in the Kamiakin Chapter of FCCLA hosted a Valentine's Day Celebration with the residents at the Royal Columbian Retirement facility. They took cookies and puch
and made a sachet craft with the residents. The residents loved having the students spend
time with them and one resident even gave students hats that she had knited. The students loved the gifts!

Kennewick HS FCCLA - Off To State!!
Students in Kennewick High School's FCCLA - Family, Career and Community Leaders of America - are headed to the State Competition! At the Regional Competition held on February 15th, students placed in three events. In the Food Innovations and Recycle and Redesign events, students placed GOLD. For their Chapter Service project, they placed SILVER. Congratulations and best of luck to Tori, Amiee, Carlee and Maylen!

67 Kamiakin Students Receive Top Honors at Area DECA Competition!
67 students are returning to Kamiakin with regional accolades in 21 different competitive events. Kamiakin DECA students received 15 first place prizes. the competitive events are aimed at student's career interests. This included taking a comprehensive test, followed by role playing events where students must demonstrate marketing proficiencies before judges. The students are eligible to compete at the State DECA Conferen
ce in Bellevue, WA, in March.

Advisory Committee Members Wanted!
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! The Kennewick Career & Technical Education programs are looking for business and community members to serve on their Advsiory Committees. Advisory committees support specific programs and members provide valuable input and advise in the ongoing development of programs.
Members provide a variety of support activities including: reviewing curriculum and making recommendations for curriculum adoption; participating in classroom presentations; judging at student leadership events; reviewing new courses and updating current course frameworks; and assisting in the ongoing planning and development of programs.
Programs include: Agriculture, Business and Marketing, Family & Consumer Sciences, Photography, American Sign Language, Technology and Engineering, Drafting, Health Occupations and Sports Medicine, and Careers In Education.
